Missouri guard Mark Smith will undergo surgery on his left ankle next Monday and miss the rest of the Tigers' season, a team spokesman confirmed Tuesday.
Smith has missed seven of MU's last nine games with the injury he first suffered in the final minutes of a game at Arkansas on Jan. 23. Smith missed the next six contests then returned for the next two against Ole Miss and Kentucky only to sit out Saturday at Florida. Mizzou (12-14, 3-11 Southeastern Conference) plays at Mississippi State on Tuesday, followed by three regular-season games against South Carolina, Georgia and Ole Miss, plus the SEC tournament in Nashville.
