Mizzou's Scherer, Beckner both suffer torn ACLs

COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri's worst fears were realized in the wake of Saturday's injuries: Linebacker Michael Scherer and defensive lineman Terry Beckner Jr. both suffered torn anterior cruciate ligaments in Saturday's loss to Middle Tennessee, MU coach Barry Odom confirmed after Tuesday's practice.

Scherer, a senior from MICDS and the team's tackles leader, will miss the rest of the season, essentially ending his college career. He finishes with 266 career tackles, just outside of the school's top 20. Scherer also tore the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Odom would not rule out Beckner to return at some point this season but said the sophomore is likely finished for the year.
