COLUMBIA, MO. • When Missouri’s offense starts its first possession in Saturday’s season opener, familiar names and faces from tackle to tight end and quarterback to tailback will jog onto Faurot Field and assume their positions.
Saturday’s game against Tennessee-Martin marks the much-anticipated debut of Derek Dooley’s new offense, and while the first-year coordinator and quarterbacks coach will be tucked away on the sixth floor of the west tower overlooking Memorial Stadium, his formations, his plays, his philosophies will be strewn about Faurot Field for three hours for all to see.
Dooley and Missouri players and assistants have chosen their words carefully when describing the changes Dooley installed since he joined the program in January, but some things should be clarified, says the author of the playbook.
