KNOXVILLE, Tenn. • A scary scene unfolded early in the fourth quarter Saturday at Tennessee when Missouri punt returner Richaud Floyd lay motionless on the turf after UT’s Shanon Reid launched his helmet into Floyd’s facemask. The team’s medical staff had to help Floyd off the field and into the locker room.
“He’s got a lot of docs around him,” Missouri coach Barry Odom said after the Tigers’ 50-17 victory. “He’s going to be OK, I would suggest. He’s in some pain right now.”
Floyd, a preseason All-SEC return specialist, missed the season’s first six games while recovering from a broken foot suffered in preseason camp.
