COLUMBIA, Mo. — When Mizzou center Trystan Colon-Castillo was an eighth grader, he told Webb City High coach John Roderique that he wasn’t going to play football in high school. He didn’t think it was any fun. Instead, he would be a swimmer.
Colon-Castillo had played running back in peewee football, but when he moved to the offensive line, he felt deflated. He said if he wasn’t scoring touchdowns, he didn’t want to be on the field. He had started swimming when he was 6, earning a few medals as he swam all the way until eighth grade.
