COLUMBIA, MO. • Barry Odom and the rest of the Missouri football coaches have to put their summer vacations on hold for a few weeks. June promises to be one endless run of camp appearances as Mizzou’s staff scours the country for potential recruits.
In April, the NCAA Division I board overturned an earlier ruling by the Division I Council that banned college football teams and coaches from hosting out-of-town camps. The Southeastern Conference previously had prohibited such satellite camps but lifted its ban so members can join the craze this summer.
In the first two weeks of June, Missouri coaches are committed to attending at least a dozen camps outside Columbia, including a stop June 5 at Kirkwood High School.
