Mizzou's basketball roster under construction again this offseason

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The roster churn already has started for coach Dennis Gates’ Missouri basketball program just two weeks into the Tigers’ offseason. Mizzou found a backcourt reinforcement in the NCAA transfer portal last week while losing two forwards.

The Tigers, fresh off Gates’ 25-10 debut season, landed an experienced perimeter scorer in Colorado State’s John Tonje but bid farewell to Ronnie DeGray III and Mohamed Diarra, who entered the portal.

Perhaps most important for Gates’ program, associate head coach Charlton Young all-but removed himself from the coaches’ version of the transfer portal. He interviewed for the head-coaching position at Temple but reportedly pulled himself from consideration before the school hired Penn State assistant Adam Fisher.
