Mizzou women's basketball team loses freshman guard to knee injury

The Missouri women's basketball team will be without freshman guard Akira Levy for the rest of the season, the team announced Thursday. Levy, one of the team's primary ball-handlers, tore the ACL and the meniscus in her right knee during Sunday's loss at Auburn. In 28 games for the Tigers, Levy averaged 4.8 points in about 16 minutes per game. The 5-8 guard from Baxter, Tenn., is fourth on the team with 58 assists and third with 24 steals.

"No time table has been set on surgery, but the team has tremendous faith in Mizzou’s medical staff and is confident Akira will make a full recovery and be back on the court for the 2019-20 season," the team said in a statement released Thursday.
