By far the two biggest losses for Missouri this offseason – so big that the Tigers are changing their style – are in the post. Jordan Frericks was a second-team All-Southeastern Conference honoree in her senior season, and 6-foot-4 Cierra Porter averaged 9.8 points and 7.6 rebounds before medically retiring due to knee injuries. Missouri is switching to a more “position-less,” up-tempo style to take advantage of its wealth of guards. But the lack of height is still concerning.
“We gotta get on the stretcher,” Tigers coach Robin Pingeton said. “Absolutely, height is an advantage and helps. But I truly believe it’s more of a mentality, it’s about having the discipline to get a body, to drive them out, and to make that extra effort.
