COLUMBIA, MO. • After a fourth-quarter breakdown and a last-second loss at Florida on Sunday, the Missouri women’s basketball team needed to redeem itself.
A dominating performance over Georgia ensued at Mizzou Arena on Thursday. The Tigers fought through a defensive battle to shut down the team that bounced them from the Southeastern Conference tournament a year ago and walked away with a 61-35 win.
Even with a 14-point lead by the fourth quarter Thursday, Sunday’s loss at Florida still haunted the Tigers. But Missouri coach Robin Pingeton didn’t have to say anything to her team by that point.
