Mizzou wins the hard way, on a field goal as time runs out

Purdue’s record-setting passer overshadowed the Tigers’ Heisman Trophy contender, but Drew Lock ultimately delivered the game-winning drive as Tucker McCann booted the 25-yard field goal to clinch a last-second 40-37 victory at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Just four days earlier Odom said this was Mizzou’s best secondary in his three seasons as head coach, but he spent Saturday watching David Blough, Purdue’s part-time quarterback, torch that unit for a school-record 572 passing yards. Yes, more yards than legendary quarterback Drew Brees ever totaled in his prolific career. It was also the most passing yards ever allowed by Mizzou’s defense, surpassing the 510-yard game by Texas Tech’s Kliff Kingsbury in 2002.
