COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri’s three-game losing streak in January started with a flat performance at Texas A&M, when Cuonzo Martin’s freshman forwards looked overmatched and his high-scoring veteran guards couldn’t shoot straight if their scholarship checks depended on an open bucket.
That Missouri team has gone missing. Now officially the hottest team in the Southeastern Conference, the Tigers extended their league-best winning streak to five games with Tuesday’s 62-58 white-knuckle victory over those same No. 21 Aggies.
Like Saturday, though, this one didn’t come easy.
“We find ways to make it very interesting,” Martin said after his team coughed up another double-digit lead before inventing new ways to create ulcers for a near-capacity crowd.
