Mizzou fell in its first major test of the 2024 season, being swept (21-25, 23-25, 18-25) by the top-15 Creighton Bluejays in front of a nearly full D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha on Saturday evening.
The match’s first two sets were full of twists, turns, and back-and-forth action. Creighton (2-0) went on early runs of 3-0 and 4-0 in set one before Mizzou fought back to within one point with a four-point streak of their own, which featured back-to-back service aces by Mychael Vernon.
The Tigers (1-1) kept the action close until Creighton pulled away at the end of the first set with a 4-1 run, clinching the set victory on a kill by Kentucky transfer Elise Goetzinger.
