Four newcomers shined for Mizzou Volleyball in its season-opening sweep (25-16, 25-14, 28-26) over Drake at the Bluejay Invitational in Omaha.
The Tigers dominated nearly all aspects of its match against last season’s MVC runners-up, hitting .294 compared to Drake’s .177 and recording seven blocks to Drake’s one.
Mizzou (1-0) also sided out, recording points when receiving a serve, on 78% of its opportunities. The coaching staff has said it aims for a 67% side out percentage during a match.
Dawn Sullivan’s squad took the first two-point lead of the game, 8-6, on a 3-0 run with two kills by Oregon State transfer Mychael Vernon.
