Mizzou Volleyball swept its competition at the Lippy Invite, taking down the host Lipscomb and rival Illinois on Thursday and Friday.
The Tigers defeated Lipscomb in the first match 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17), putting together a dominant first two sets before suffering their third set slump. The fourth set was trending towards a competitive ending until Jordan Iliff’s incredible run at the service line sealed the match for Mizzou.
Dawn Sullivan’s squad bounded out to a large 11-4 lead early in the opening frame with a 6-0 run featuring three consecutive kills by Mychael Vernon. The Bisons (Lipscomb uses the plural form for their mascot) pushed back, cutting their deficit to five, but a 3-0 run put Mizzou up 21-13.
