Mizzou Volleyball left the Bluejay Invitational with a winning record Sunday after a statement victory in three sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-23) over NC State.
The Tigers played what I’m describing as “smash-mouth” volleyball. Mizzou dominated at the net, hitting at least .400 in two of three sets and finishing with a .287 hitting percentage.
Meanwhile, NC State failed to hit above .230 in any set and had a .139 hitting percentage for the match. But that’s only part of why I use this phrase.
Not only did the Tigers win the net battle, they relied heavily on attacking in the middle third of the front row - and the Wolfpack had zero answers to this strategy.
