COLUMBIA, Mo. • Following Wednesday’s 18-point loss at Georgia, Missouri basketball coach Kim Anderson downplayed the doomsday notion that the rest of the season hinged on Saturday’s visit from Auburn.
“I don’t want to say, ‘Hey, if you don’t win this game the season’s over,’” he said after Mizzou’s Southeastern Conference opener.
Maybe not, but the Tigers know if they want to improve on last year’s stinker of a season, these are the games they can’t afford to lose. Against an Auburn team short on experience and depth, Anderson’s Tigers evened their SEC record, dominating stretches in a 76-61 victory.
