ATHENS, Ga. • Some breaks fell Missouri’s way in the first quarter at Georgia, but the Tigers had little to show for it, leading the Bulldogs 3-0 when the second quarter began.
Things could not have started better for Missouri on the game’s first snap at Sanford Stadium. Linebacker Michael Scherer tipped Greyson Lambert’s game-opening pass and safety Ian Simon grabbed the interception and nearly scored on a 39-yard return to the 1-yard line.
Just inches from the end zone, Missouri’s offense had three chances to open with a touchdown but went backward on three runs.
