COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri flirted with trouble all day Saturday and nearly squandered the momentum and good vibes captured last week at Florida.
In what became almost a repeat ending to MU’s collapse against Kentucky two weeks ago, Vanderbilt had a chance to score the game-winning touchdown on the final play, but this time, unlike the last time, the final pass fell incomplete. From the 25-yard line, Mizzou’s Jordan Elliott flushed Kyle Shurmur out of the pocket but he still unleashed a heave into the end zone for tight end Jared Pinkney.
When the Tigers’ offense and defense absolutely had to make a play, they answered the call in a 33-28 victory.
