KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — DeAndre Gholston began Saturday night with an air-ball. He ended with a crowd-silencing, walk-off game-winner at Tennessee’s Thompson-Boling Arena.
Launching a 3-pointer from the second S in the word “Tennessee” splashed across midcourt, Gholston tumbled to the floor as his teammates mobbed him and celebrated an improbable 86-85 comeback win over the nation’s No. 6 team. The Tigers (19-6, 7-5 SEC) had blown a 17-point lead in the second half but none of that mattered as they left Knoxville with their fifth win over a nationally ranked team.
“We just didn’t flinch. We didn’t blink,” Gholston said after his second buzzer-beating, game-winning deep 3-pointer of the season.
