COLUMBIA, MO. • In 2018, 20 years after Devin West rumbled through the Big 12 Conference unlike any player in Mizzou history, the Tigers produced their 13th 1,000-yard running back in team history. Larry Rountree was part of a three-man timeshare in the backfield but stayed healthy through the year and finished with 1,216 yards on 225 carries.
How good was Rountree’s season? Only three players in team history have rushed for more yards in a single season: The great Joe Moore (1,312 in 1969), the aforementioned West (1,578 in 1998) and quarterback Brad Smith (1,406 in 2003 and 1,301 in 2005).
