Trying to capture Missouri’s first Southeastern Conference championship since 2016, the Tigers’ softball team couldn’t find its offense in Saturday’s conference tournament title game, losing to No. 1 seed Arkansas 4-0. Mizzou (36-20) had shut out its first three opponents in Gainesville, Florida, to reach Saturday’s title bout but never solved Razorbacks starter Chenise Delce, the SEC pitcher of the year.
The Tigers managed just two hits — singles by shortstop Jenna Laird — zero walks and advanced only one runner past first base. Delce retired Mizzou’s final 13 hitters at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
“She flat out beat us,” Mizzou coach Larissa Anderson said.
