Gina Fogue and her staff were told after Mizzou was eliminated from NCAA regional play on Sunday that the administration will move in another direction for its next coach, a source told the Post-Dispatch. The players were told the news on Monday. The university has since listed the vacant head-coaching position on its human resources web site along with an assistant coach position.

“A national search is underway to recruit the very best individual to lead Mizzou Softball into the future," Mizzou athletics director Jim Sterk said in a statement released Tuesday. "Our program enjoys a rich tradition, plays in a state-of-the-art facility and competes in the nation’s toughest conference, and it is our desire to build upon past successes moving forward.
