COLUMBIA, MO. • In January, Derek Dooley was a surprise choice as Missouri’s new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, mostly because he’d never held either role during his coaching career. Dooley will soon work alongside someone with experience in both positions.
Garrick McGee, a former Power 5 coordinator and mid-major head coach, is set to join Mizzou’s staff as an offensive analyst, a university source confirmed. PowerMizzou.com first reported McGee’s expected hire on Sunday. Terms of McGee's deal were not available.
McGee, 45, had been Illinois’ offensive coordinator and QB coach each of the last two seasons before he was fired in December.
