COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri linebacker Cale Garrett had a front-row view of Saturday’s biggest plays at Faurot Field and still marveled about them hours later.
“Did you like those catches by our wide receivers, man? Those were sick,” he said after the Tigers’ 51-14 victory over Tennessee-Martin. “I think the sideline was louder than the crowd at that point.”
Thanks to the NCAA’s new redshirt rule, the Tigers emptied their bench Saturday and played 14 freshmen, including a handful who wouldn’t have seen the field were it not for the rule that allows players to appear in four games without using a year of eligibility.
