COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri’s athletics department continues to work with the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference in light of allegations of academic misconduct by former tutor Yolanda Kumar.
On Friday, MU athletics director Jim Sterk spoke with reporters for the first time since Nov. 22 when MU announced an internal review of Kumar’s allegations.
Kumar, a former tutor for Mizzou athletes, told the Post-Dispatch and other outlets that she was groomed by her superiors in the MU athletics academic department to participate in what she called “academic dishonesty.” She said she completed entire courses for athletes, helped with online tests and took entrance exams for athletes.
