COLUMBIA, Mo. — Back in December during college football’s early signing period, Missouri’s Eliah Drinkwitz rattled off a list of positions the Tigers were targeting for the second signing date in February, including one specific area of need.
“We need a touchdown-maker,” he said.
For good reason.
Of the wide receivers, tight ends and running backs Drinkwitz inherited when he took over the program, the team’s returning cast had combined for only 13 career receiving touchdowns, five by running back Tyler Badie. Returning wideouts caught a whopping two touchdown passes in all of 2019.
That explains why Drinkwitz’s staff loaded up on offensive skill players in recruiting and through the transfer market, leading to a revamped cast of options when preseason camp is set to start Aug.
