COLUMBIA, Mo. — It took three weeks, but Missouri seems to have its defensive coordinator.
Mizzou is reportedly set to hire Corey Batoon to lead the defense, bringing its new defensive coordinator in from South Alabama. ESPN first reported the news.
Batoon, 55, also coached safeties there. He was South Alabama’s nominee for the Broyles Award in 2021. Previously, he was an assistant at Liberty, Hawaii and Florida Atlantic.
Batoon also has administrative experience, having worked as Ole Miss’ assistant athletic director for player development and assistant athletic director for recruiting operations.
He nearly crossed paths with MU coach Eli Drinkwitz at Arkansas State, but Drinkwitz landed there a year after Batoon left.
