NASHVILLE, TENN. • It was just eight weeks ago when Missouri’s Barry Odom made his memorable “turnaround” speech after a lifeless performance in a 37-point home loss to Auburn. The Tigers were 1-3. They’d sink to 1-5.
“We’re going to win,” Odom insisted back on Sept. 23. “That’s going to happen.”
But not for three more weeks. After road losses at Kentucky and Georgia, Odom’s team ignited the turnaround tour sooner and more emphatically than anyone could have expected outside of that locker room.
Mizzou crushed Idaho, Connecticut, Florida and Tennessee by a combined 149 points, then came here to Music City on Saturday and held off Vanderbilt 45-17 for its fifth straight win and sixth of the season.
