Mizzou pulls away for second victory

COLUMBIA, Mo. • The Missouri basketball team emerged from a sluggish first half to improve to 2-0 with Sunday’s 73-55 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore in a CBE Hall of Fame Classic host game.

Junior guard Wes Clark, held without a field goal in Friday’s win over Wofford, led the Tigers with 15 points. Freshman forward Kevin Puryear added 13, matched by freshman point guard Terrence Phillips.

Bakari Copeland led UMES (0-2) with a game-high 16 points.

After making six of their first seven shots, the Tigers went cold the rest of the first half against UMES’ zone defense, shooting just 6 of 20 the final 13 minutes to take a 34-32 halftime lead.
