COLUMBIA, MO. • Once Derek Dooley’s offense started having success at Missouri this season, the inevitable questions began to surface: How long will he stick around?
Dooley is a former Division I head coach with strong family roots in the South — not to mention ties to a guy named Nick Saban. Dooley is handsomely paid at $900,000, the biggest salary for any assistant coach in team history. He’s got two years left on his contract. If his offense continues to produce yards, points and victories, it’s reasonable to expect programs that can pay him more money will come calling, either to hire him as a coordinator or head coach.
