COLUMBIA, Mo. — Case Cook didn’t need to hear the rest of the question. Missouri’s offensive line had played its worst game of the season — maybe its worst in years — and the team captain had his explanation prepared.
Asked Tuesday about the line’s uncharacteristic meltdown in the 62-24 loss to Tennessee, Cook, just like a grizzled blocker in the trenches, absorbed the blow.
“It’s on me,” the senior said. “I didn’t play good enough. So I’ll take ownership for it. It’s on me.”
A follow-up question couldn’t knock Cook out of his stance. Was he surprised the line played so poorly?
