Mizzou News: Legendary basketball coach Norm Stewart will get a statue

Stewart, who coached Missouri basketball through much of its glory days, will be honored before the start of what many fans are hoping will be the beginning of Missouri’s return to dominance.

If you think that’s too strong a phrase, then from 1967-1999, save a lack of championships, Missouri dominated under Stewart almost every year.

During his tenure at Mizzou, Stewart led the Tigers to eight Big Eight championships and 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, of which three advanced to the Elite Eight, after which the basketball court was named after him, recognizing his coaching brilliance.
