COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri men's basketball started quick and survived a muddy second half to beat Vanderbilt on Saturday for a key Southeastern Conference win that came through something of a nailbiter.
The Tigers needed just nine minutes to score their first 25 points but took more than 17 minutes to score their next 25, letting a competitive Commodores team back into the game. A confident closing effort from Mizzou's veterans sealed the victory, keeping Vanderbilt from ever leading despite spending most of the second half on the doorstep.
MU (13-3, 2-1 SEC) won 75-66.
Forward Mark Mitchell led MU with 18 points and seven rebounds.
