COLUMBIA, MO. • As if Saturday’s loss to Middle Tennessee wasn’t bad enough.
Missouri’s worst fears were realized in the wake of Saturday’s knee injuries in the 51-45 defeat: Linebacker Michael Scherer and defensive lineman Terry Beckner Jr. both suffered torn anterior cruciate ligaments, MU coach Barry Odom confirmed after Tuesday’s practice.
Scherer, a senior from MICDS and the team’s leading tackler, will miss the rest of the season. He doesn’t have another year of eligibility, which means he finishes his college career with 266 career tackles, just outside of the school’s top 20. Scherer, who started MU’s last 33 games, the most consecutive starts on the team, also tore the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
