COLUMBIA, MO. • Could the Missouri-Kansas Cold War be thawing?
The two longtime rivals are engaged in talks to hold a men's basketball exhibition game at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, multiple sources confirmed Thursday. The targeted date for the game is Oct. 22. Kansas City radio station 610 AM reported proceeds will benefit hurricane relief efforts.
The schools need the NCAA to approve a waiver before the game can be finalized, a university source confirmed.
The Tigers and Jayhawks have not met since Feb. 25, 2012, a Kansas overtime victory in Lawrence, Kan.
