COLUMBIA, Mo. — Late in the second quarter of Mizzou’s game against South Carolina, Albert Okwuegbunam lined up at tight end, darted straight out to the right, grabbed a 3-yard pass from Kelly Bryant and skipped across the goal line without a defender in sight. It was Okwuegbunam’s fourth touchdown in as many games and put the Tigers up 17-7 at halftime on their way to snapping a three-game losing streak in the series with the Gamecocks.
Okwuegbunam, a freshman All-American in 2017, is a leader in a young group of tight ends that’s struggled with injuries. He spent the offseason recovering from a season-ending injury, a broken scapula he suffered against Florida.
