COLUMBIA, MO. • Between Missouri’s football and men’s basketball teams, the Tigers won only 12 games during the 2016-17 school year.
An even dozen. That’s it.
It’s the fewest combined wins for the school’s two high-profile teams since 1966-67, when Dan Devine’s football Tigers were respectable at 6-3-1 but Bob Vanatta’s basketball Tigers won only three games.
Poor seasons by the school’s marquee programs sink ticket sales and other revenue markers, but beyond the dreary headlines that chronicled Mizzou B.C. — Before Cuonzo — the school’s athletics programs enjoyed an otherwise robust 2016-17.
Thanks to the ladies.
