NASHVILLE, Tenn. • Mizzou’s brief bout of March Madness has been cured. A listless season and mostly miserable three-year run that included only one postseason game before this week lived to see another day but expired here Thursday.
Tigers coach Kim Anderson finally had to dismount from his brief joyride of redemption.
On Wednesday, Mizzou outlasted Auburn in overtime on two buzzer-beating 3-pointers, Frankie Hughes for the tie in regulation and Kevin Puryear for the win in OT.
On Thursday, the Tigers ran out of dramatics. Anderson’s team couldn’t keep Ole Miss off the free throw line in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament and officially laid to rest the Anderson era with an 86-74 loss at Bridgestone Arena.
