COLUMBIA, Mo. — Any other season during any other year, Eli Drinkwitz’s Missouri offense would face a daunting challenge at Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium, one of college football’s mega stadiums, where a sold-out crowd would mean 100,000-plus screaming voices greeting his team with each snap.
That won’t be the case Saturday, when Drinkwitz coaches his first game in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Under COVID-19 regulations, seating at Neyland’s home opener will be restricted to around 25 percent of the stadium’s capacity. That will put Saturday’s crowd at around 25,000 fans for the 11 a.m. kickoff.
In other words, more like an average game at Vanderbilt.
