COLUMBIA, Mo. — Sacks and interceptions helped cover up some glaring missteps for Missouri’s defense in Saturday’s season-opening win over Central Michigan, and that’s not a recipe Eli Drinkwitz can stomach the rest of the year.
The Tigers sacked quarterback Jacob Sirmon nine times — tied for the most sacks any team has totaled through the first full week of games — and snagged two interceptions.
But that same Mizzou defense allowed three Chippewa running backs to combine for 244 rushing yards and average nearly 9 yards per attempt.
Drinkwitz loved the former. Not so much the latter.
