Mizzou DE Charles Harris bypassing final year to enter NFL draft

Missouri defensive end Charles Harris announced Thursday that he would forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Harris, a junior, was the Tigers’ most effective pass rusher in 2016. He had a team-high 12 tackles for loss, 61 tackles overall, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and 10 quarterback hits.

In October, Harris’ father publicly expressed frustration with the Tigers’ defensive scheme. Statistics for both Harris and the Missouri pass rush as a whole declined in 2016 as the Tigers tumbled to the bottom of the SEC East standings.

Harris, who was a fourth-year junior this season, toyed with the idea of turning pro after last season, but decided to remain in school.
