NASHVILLE, TENN. • It was just eight weeks ago when Missouri’s Barry Odom made his memorable “turnaround” speech after a lifeless performance in a 37-point home loss to Auburn. The Tigers were 1-3 and would soon sink to 1-5.
“We will win,” Odom insisted back on Sept. 23. “This is a turnaround. Anyway you slice it or dice it or want to look at it, this is a turnaround process.
“I know what I’ve got in the locker room,” he continued. “We’re going to win. That’s going to happen.”
But not for three more weeks. After road losses at Kentucky and Georgia, Odom’s team ignited the turnaround tour sooner and more emphatically than anyone could have expected outside of that locker room.
