Eight teams from the Southeastern Conference were selected for the NCAA baseball tournament, but as expected Missouri missed the field for the fifth straight season despite winning 36 games, the program’s most wins since 2008.
Under first-year coach Steve Bieser, the Tigers (36-23) ran off a 20-game winning streak from Feb. 18 to March 21, the second-longest win streak in team history but lost six of their first eight SEC series before winning the final two. Mizzou was 26-30 last season and 9-22 against SEC competition.
Mizzou, the 10th seed in the SEC tournament, beat Texas A&M in the first-round single-elimination game but lost to Louisiana State and South Carolina.
