COLUMBIA, MO. • For the second straight year, the University of Missouri athletics department operated in the red, though in Jim Sterk’s second year as athletics director, Mizzou revenues experienced strong growth and closed the gap on spending.
Once again, Mizzou athletics made more money and spent more money than ever before, with revenues growing nearly $10 million and expenses increasing by nearly $7 million.
The financial figures are based on the school’s mandated submission to the NCAA Membership Financial Reporting System and were obtained by a Sunshine Law request. The latest financial data reflects MU’s finances from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018, which included the 2017 men’s football season and the 2017-18 men’s basketball season, the team’s first year under coach Cuonzo Martin and the program’s return to the NCAA Tournament.
