Mizzou athletes march on campus for racial justice

COLUMBIA, Mo. — At the same school where five years ago the football team played a pivotal role in racial protests that left lasting changes throughout the campus, University of Missouri athletes, coaches and administrators united Wednesday night and marched for a common cause.

Organized by the campus’ newly launched Missouri Black Student-Athlete Association, the “March for Mizzou” peaceful demonstration was a grassroots event to bring awareness to racial injustices that have commanded the country’s attention the last few months. School officials estimated around 800 people took part in the march that began at the columns on the Francis Quadrangle and headed south through campus to Memorial Stadium.
