Missouri lands pledge from Texas running back

COLUMBIA, MO. • As college football's early signing period gets started Wednesday, Missouri continues to collect verbal commitments for the 2018 class. Simi Bakare, a running back from Round Rock, Texas, previously committed to Tulane, announced plans Tuesday to sign with Missouri.

The three-star running back doesn't hold any other Power 5 offers, according to multiple recruiting sites. This season, Bakare (6-foot, 199 pounds) rushed for 1,759 yards and 29 touchdowns at Cedar Ridge High School. He's rated the nation's No. 160 running back for 2018 by 247Sports.com's composite rankings. He gives the Tigers 21 known commitments and eight from Texas, more than any other state.
