Missouri DE Nate Howard, a likely starter, arrested on drug charges

Missouri junior defensive end Nate Howard, a likely starter this season, was arrested late Wednesday on drug charges. Boone County (Mo.) Jail records show Howard was taken to jail for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and having no vehicle registration.

Howard, who was arrested by campus police, was given $5,500 bail.

A statement from the Missouri athletic department Thursday morning said, “We are aware of the situation, and are addressing it internally. Nate is suspended indefinitely.”

Howard, who is a former three-star recruit from St. Louis Ladue Horton Watkins, played extensively as a true freshman in 2015.
