If their races were an introduction, Missouri’s new runners left a strong first impression at their home opener, Friday.
Women’s 5K
Arkansas State transfer Rahel Broemmel ran tall, poised and far ahead of her teammates, winning the women’s 5K by nearly 13 seconds in 17:34.8.
“I felt pretty comfortable in my new jersey,” Broemmel said.
She said she felt supported and encouraged by her new teammates, but the other Tigers were just gold blurs in the background as Broemmel traced the tree line with less than a kilometer to race.
Still, the NCAA Championship-runner didn’t take her spikes off the gas.
