If there was one benefit to Missouri's early exit from the Southeastern Conference tournament, it was that star freshman forward Michael Porter Jr. was able to spend time on Saturday with a Columbia girl who is in a serious battle with cancer.
Porter wore Lizzy Wampler’s name on a T-shirt for Mizzou’s annual Rally for Rhyan game benefiting pediatric cancer research, and former Missouri assistant basketball coach Brad Loos — whose daughter Rhyan is the inspiration for the annual charity game — mentioned Wampler during a halftime speech.
A post on the Facebook page from last week said that Wampler only had about 14 days left to live.
